Porter 10 Months

Happy 10 months to this happy and busy boy!  He is SO fun!  It is so exciting to watch him grown and learn new things.  He is becoming a kid before my very eyes and isn't so much a baby anymore.

 Here are some pictures from throughout the last month of Porter and what he has been up to...

First real haircut.  It was just way too out of control!

All he wanted to do was look at the clippers and not hold still for even one second.

For the most part, Porter is so good to play on his own while I'm working.  He's the best little colleague!

He likes to look at himself in windows, in the reflect on the oven, and especially in mirrors.

He really took a liking to Nana's homemade bread.  I mean, who wouldn't?!

This boy loves yogurt!  I'm pretty sure he would have it for every meal.  He cries when it's gone.

He's using his walker more and more and loves help from Sophie!

We just can't get over how cute these dinosaur jammies are.  Look at those feet!

Porter loves books and will sit and look at them for a while.  He especially loves books with animals in them.

People always comment on how he has the most beautiful brown eyes.  Couldn't agree more people!  And I love that he can hold his own bottle now!

This is how we have Porter-proofed the book case.  Please tell me he will grow out of trying to destroy our books!

He has really become a good little sleeper (thank the heavens above!).  He has to have his binkie though.  We are in big trouble when that disappears in a couple months!

• He had the biggest poop blowout on record.  It was all the way up his back to his neck.  It was horrifying!
• He has found the toilet paper rolls and thinks they are so fun!
• He had his first time out.
• Changing his diaper or getting his dressed is like wrestling match.  He doesn't like being in one place that long!
• He loves blue berries, grean beans, canned carrots, kiwis, bananas, and black beans.
• He has become very interested in the stairs.  He is pretty good at going up, but still hasn't figured out the going down safely technique.
• He likes to lead the music when we sing in church.
• Now that he has teeth on the top and bottom, he likes to grind them together.  Makes me ill!
• He says "baba" for bottle.
• He has started to get a little opinion about things and will let you know if he is not pleased about something, like taking our phones or the remote away from him.

What will the next month bring?   He is so happy and such a people person!  We love this kid!

Progressive Dinner and Hints of Spring

Somehow January (and most of February) got away from before we could get all of our schedules lined up to have our annual besties progressive dinner.  We started at the Schofield's (chips and salsa and cheese dip and little taco bites) with appetizers, then headed over to the Ellison's for the main course (grilled salmon, broccoli, potatoes, and mixed berries with cool whip).  The final stop was our house (so we could put Porter to bed) where we watched the Cougs lose to Gonzaga (like they always do when we watch it together), and ate apple crisp and Golden Graham s'more bars.  It was a perfect evening with all these people I love.

Sadie had no interest in smiling!  Hope these two littles will carry on our besties tradition when they grow up!

Deeds and Kimmy were also in town this weekend, so we spent time over at Kara and Ryan's.  Porter loved their little tricycle.  Bring on spring!!

The Big 6-0!

Well guys, my dad turned 60 last week!  James, Porter, and I flew down to surprise him.  We had it planned perfectly to arrive in LA around 1pm so we would have plenty of time to get to Bakersfield to decorate and be ready when my dad came home from work.

The weather in Salt Lake had a different plan.  Right when we should have been boarding, the airport shut down complete because of lightning, and then before we knew it, there was buckets of snow falling.  We ended up being delayed 2 hours.  Luckily I caught my mom in time before she left Bakersfield to pick us up so she wasn't just sitting at the airport for hours and hours.

We sat on the tarmac for almost a half hour after we landed.  Porter was so good thankfully!

By the time we got off the plane and got our luggage, it was rush hour in LA which meant we sat in horrible traffic.  Long story short, we got to Bakersfield an hour after my dad had gotten home from work.  It really cracked us up because he didn't call my mom or anything asking where she was (on his birthday and she's no where to be found).  He figured she had an RS meeting or something going on that he had just forgotten about.  Haha!  Hilarious!  He was totally surprised to see us and we had the best weekend just hanging out and playing lots of cards.

My dad chose Kento bowl for his birthday dinner!  So delish!

We met him for lunch at Sequoia Sandwiches on Friday.

We hung up the decorations, opened presents, and had cake and ice cream on Friday night instead.

And we had to crack up at the placement of Jack's hand print.  Leave it to us!

I had friends and family members share stories or memories of my dad and I cut them up and put each one in a balloon for him to pop and read.  It was really fun!

The rest of the weekend was just spent relaxing, going on walks, playing cards, and eating good food.

On Monday, our flight wasn't until 5pm so we headed down to LA early and went to a yummy El Salvadoran place for lunch and then to the beach.

Our flight home went much more smoothly.  I do need to document that Porter blew out 3 times this day and peed out once.  Good thing none of those happened on the flight!  Could you imagine?!  It was such a fun weekend to spend with my parents and celebrate my dad's birthday!  Let's hope he is around for 60 more years!

Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day this year in our usual fashion of going out to breakfast, going to the temple, and cooking a special dinner at home.

We swapped babysitting with Kara and Ryan so that we could all go to the temple that day.

Ry taught Porter about Star Wars.  He was enthralled!

We made dinner on Sunday...roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, roasted asparagus, a rustic homemade herb and asiago cheese bread, and grapple up (grape and apple juice mixed with 7-Up to drink!

Family Valentine's Day!

We sure loved having this addition this Valentine's day!

James made a homemade card for me that was so sweet.  We decided not to get each other gifts and count our garage storage rack as our gift.  It was a perfect weekend of love!
