Cosby Christmas Celebration

The great thing about having both sides of the family in Utah this year is that we had two Christmases!  On Monday, James, Porter, and I joined my parents on a quick road trip up to Deeds and Kim's house in Rexburg.  We left around noon on Monday and left to come back on Tuesday morning, so it was a really quick trip but so fun to see Deeds and Kim and their new apartment!

This sweet boy was a pretty good road tripper!  He just needed to hold my arm to sleep.  Melt my heart!
Then on Tuesday night, we gathered all the troops for second Christmas at Amy's.  It was wild and awesome!

All the cousins!  Luke's face!

So Kara got this maternity shirt from her parents on regular Christmas, and she happened to wear it to our Christmas where she got the exact same shirt from my parents.  Hilarious!

Ry was pretty excited about his new sound bar.

As usual, my parents went above and beyond in spoiling us all.  This year, my birthday and Christmas present was combined.  My mom some how found a sewing machine just like hers that she got refurbished for me and it is soooo nice!  Maybe I'll enjoy sewing more now that I have a good machine and don't always have to borrow my mother-in-law's!  Thank you to everyone for such a great holiday time!

Porter 8 Months

He's going to be 1 before I know it!  I can't even handle it!  Our Porter boy is so fun and is getting so big!  He is starting to develop quite the little attachment to me and I'm not sure how I feel about it.  Maybe he's going to be a momma's boy.  It's nearly impossible to get to hold still enough for a decent photo.

Here are a bunch of random pictures from throughout the month...
He still loves his jumper, but sometimes it makes him frustrated when he can't walk forward in it.

James gives Porter his baths most nights.  It is the perfect amount of time for me to do a couple little chores around the house!  We've got a pretty dang good system!

Mmmm hmmm!

I got this onesie for James last Christmas.  Porter was finally big enough to wear it the day of the Top Chef season premiere!

He still loves to be on the tile, which is freezing mind you.  It doesn't seem to bother him one bit.
He is really starting to play and splash in the bath.

He has discovered himself in the drain thing.  He thinks that cute baby is so funny!

All ready for our bowl game which was terrible!

This is his new favorite face...cracks me up!

He ain't no fool!  He knows a good treat when he tastes it!  Homemade caramel from one of our neighbor friends.

Sometimes you barf and then army crawl through it before mom notices.  And then do it again 5 minutes later.  This shirt might be destroyed.

This elephant baby towel just cracks me up.  Excuse the inappropriateness of this but I call him "boner head" whenever he uses this towel.  Haha!

We helped Ryan and Kara move the day after Christmas.  Having Porter with me rendered me pretty much useless.

He loves looking at himself in mirrors and giving himself kisses!

This kid's peeing at night is unreal.  We don't even know what to do anymore, but he pees out almost nightly.  We decided to try the overnight extra absorbent diapers.  The smallest size they have is 4, so we gave it a shot.  It was huge on him, but he didn't pee out!

My 8-month-old!
Here are a few more things about our Porter boy...
  • He sleeps until 7am most days, but usually will wake up and talk a few times before that.
  • He loves looking at himself in the mirror or at pictures or videos of himself.
  • He is starting to copy sounds that we make like "dada", "mama", "t" sound, and "doo doo doo".
  • He has found all the plugs in the house so we had to buy plug protectors.
  • He can now go from being on his belly to sitting up by himself.
  • He usually takes 3 naps a day...one around 9am, one around 1pm and another (which is hit-or-miss) around 4:30pm.  They are not usually long naps still...we jump for joy when its over an hour!
We love this kid!  Seriously so fun these days!

Christmas!!

I can't believe Christmas has already come and gone.  One Christmas Eve, we had our usual Taylor family dinner, and Christmas devotional.  It is always so wonderful to be with all the family!
I was an epic failure this year and this is the only picture I took.
That night James and I kept with tradition and woke up super early to see what Santa brought us.  Amy has a cookbook that has many recipes that my great grandma would make.  Most of the recipes are written in her own handwriting.  Santa knew that I wanted a copy of this cookbook and gave it to me with my stocking.  He's such a stellar guy!
The last gift in our Christmas advent was this gigantic map mug for me!  Love!
James was pretty pumped about the summer sausage in his stocking!
Then we started a movie and waited for Porter to wake up so we could open presents!

He finally woke up a little before 7am and we were ready to roll!

Porter mostly wanted to tear off small pieces of wrapping paper and eat it.

My little helper!
First Christmas!!

While I was pregnant, I wrote Porter a letter each month.  Then I wrote one more letter to him about a month after he was born.  I decided to put them all into a book for him with pictures of my belly as it grew.  I hope he loves it some day!

Onion goggles!
Can you see the joy in his face about epoxy-ing our garage floor?  He has been wanted to do it since the day we bought our house.

We woke up Christmas morning to about 6 inches of snow.  I know this is a lot of peoples' dream...a white Christmas...not me!  It just is cold and terrible and makes driving awful!  I guess it's a little pretty.
After our little family Christmas, we headed over to Nana and Papa's for Christmas breakfast.  Look at this beautiful spread!
Grapefruit, pears, bacon, homemade eggnog, scrambled eggs, and tea ring!
We got to talk to our nephew, Taylor, who is on a mission in Baltimore over Skype.  It was his first time "meeting" Porter.  He's doing so great and loving his mission!
We also got to Skype with the Bennion's and surprise Nana and Papa with our gift to all of them.  In August, we are renting a huge house on Scofield Reservoir and having a Taylor family reunion!  It's going to be so great!
In the afternoon, we headed over to my grandma's house and spent a couple of hours with her and my parents.
Porter looking at pictures of himself and his cousins.
I received an adult coloring book for Christmas and worked on one picture for most of the day.  Love it!
We headed back over to Nana and Papa's for the rest of the evening.
Porter loves his cousin, Scarlett!
It was a perfect day full of family...just the way it should be!  It was so fun to have a little one of my own this year.  I know he doesn't understand what is happening, but I hope he felt that it was a special day.  I remember thinking last year that I would have an almost 8-month-old the next Christmas.  I can't believe that it came so fast!  I couldn't be more blessed!
