May Randoms

I have a bunch of random pictures from the month of May.  So here goes...

It is starting to get warm here, which means we have to bust out the fans.  Porter loves to feel the wind in his hair!

Can we say teething?!

James and I got a date night one night and had dinner at Black Sheep Cafe in Provo.  This buffalo burger was TO DIE FOR!!

We are still prepping for trek, and Porter is a good sport to join us, even on cool spring mornings!

This kid is obsessed with being outside!  He spends a lot of time at the front door knocking it and asking to go outside.

Porter's last day with his binkie was May 15.  Poor little buddy didn't know what was coming in this picture.  It has been an easier transition than I thought it would be, but he sure misses his "nigh, nigh".

We went to pick something up from Aunt Mary, and they were dog sitting this little puppy.  Porter was in heaven and couldn't stop hugging/smothering it.

This scene is becoming more and more typical.  He sure lets us know when he's not getting what he wants.

To finish May out, we join Amy and the kids for an afternoon at the Thanksgiving Point farm.  Porter loved riding the horsey and kept saying "neigh" the whole time and waving to all the people watching.

That about wraps up our May.  Porter is super social.  He says "hi" to everyone we pass by.  He loves to play with other kids and get into everything he isn't supposed to.  We love that summer is here so we can play, play, play!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had such a fun Memorial Day weekend!  Kara and the boys were out of town, so we got to spend a lot of time with Ryan.  On Monday morning, we went to pick him up for our day of adventures, and no matter how much knocking, door bell ringing, or calling we did, no one would answer.  Luckily, I knew the code to open their front door.  I was starting to get a little worried.  Ryan is usually very punctual. I opened the door and it didn't look like anyone was home.  So I wandered up to his room to find him sawing logs.  It was like 9am!!  Who does that?!  Now that is the right way to spend a holiday!

 Our first stop was the Springville City cemetery to visit several of the graves of my ancestors.  I had never been there, so it was really neat.  I love cemeteries!  That's maybe a little creepy, but I feel like they hold so many stories.  It is fascinating.

We drove to Scofield Reservoir to check out the house we are going to be staying at in August for our Taylor family reunion.  The house looks awesome and we can't wait!  There isn't much near the house, but there is a little gas station with a convenience store that sells some awesome beef jerky!

Then we decided to explore the area more.  We stopped for lunch at Electric Lake.  It was incredibly windy, and not super warm, but it's always a dream to be outside and in the mountains!

 

 

We ended up being near Spring City, UT which is where several of James' ancestors are buried, so we stopped there too.  We also found out that Orson Hyde is buried there too.

It wouldn't be a true road trip without a stop at the Red Barn for some ice cream!

We had so much fun!  After dinner and after putting Porter to bed, we stayed up way too late playing Wii Sports Resort just like we were little kids again.  Every weekend should be a 3-day weekend!

Aubrey, Garden, and Ensign Peak

On Friday night, we got to watch Aubrey open her mission call.  She is going to San Antonio Texas and speaking Spanish!  We are so excited for her and she will make a phenomenal missionary!  I wonder what will be happening in Aubrey's life when Porter opens his mission call.  I love that Porter has these older cousins to be such good examples to him!

Our garden has been planted!  It's always a pretty exciting thing!  We look forward to watching it grow and hopefully eating lots of good food!

We bought a hydrangea for the pot at our front door too!

Here is our little garden helper!  He has seemed to make a complete turnaround since yesterday!

 

 Last evening, we had planned to go on a quick trek prep hike with our trek kids.  Only one showed up, but we had a great time!  We went downtown to Ensign Peak, and then took the one youth who came out to dinner at Charlie Chow's.  It was a fun evening!

BYU Fan Fest

Thursday night was the BYU Fan Fest here in Lehi.  It was pretty fun, but Porter is still not feeling great.  I should have been a responsible mother and stayed home, but I didn't want to miss this.  James even had meetings and I still went.  Kara and Ryan brought the kids and we had a great time!
