4 Months Old

Porter turned 4 months old yesterday.  Time is really flying by!  I both love it and hate it at the same time.  I love it because he is becoming so much fun, but I don't want him to grow up too fast.  I try to make a conscious effort to cherish every day and live in the now.  Here is on his 4 month birthday...

Here are some random pictures throughout the month...

Sometimes he's a Houdini in the night!

He's starting to love his Disney buddies that hang out with him in his crib.

We went swimming for the first time and loved it!

The day after swimming, he woke up around 4am to eat.  I fed him, and he immediately barfed everything up all over the place.  Poor little buddy was sick all day.  He couldn't keep much down and slept a lot, but it was kind of fun to have a snuggly baby for a day!

Sick little guy just fell asleep on the floor.

One Saturday, we freeze dried lots of corn with Brett and Jenny and Randall and Sondra.  Scarlett was so cute and wanted to lay on her blanket by Porter.
Looking so dapper for James' cousin's wedding reception!

I've got this happy face cheering me on while I ride the bike now!
Here are Porter's 4 month stats:
Weight: 12lb 3 oz (2%)
Length: 24.5in (25%)
Head Circumference: 41.61cm (50%)

He's still my scrawny little guy!  The doctor says he is looking healthy and really strong.  He was really impressed with Porter's muscle tone and how well he holds his head up.

Here are some fun things that have happened in the last month:
Porter has started sleeping unswaddled and he loves it.
He has started rolling all over the place.
He started drinking more and more formula.  I just can't keep up with him.
He grabs for our hands and for toys.
He had his first hair cut.

We love this boy!

Trip to Boise

Porter and I just got back from a trip to Boise with Amy and the Grossen kiddos.  I'm pretty sure the trip nearly ended both of our lives!  Ryan and Kara are moving to Utah in a few weeks, so Amy and I wanted to go visit Boise one more time.  I love it there and will miss going there to visit, but we are so excited for them to live close!  I really debated whether to go or not.  I was nervous to be a single parent for several day, and I was sad to leave James.  Work has been crazy for him lately, so I asked if it would help if Porter and I left for a few days so he could have full days of work to get caught up.  He hated to say yes, but it is really what he needed.  So off to Boise we went!  Porter was pretty good on the way up there.  He only had one major screaming episode, but he was hungry so who can blame him?!
I say this trip nearly ended both of our lives because this boy hit a growth spurt or something while we there because I could not feed him enough, especially at night.  He also was a terrible napper and sleeper.  Poor kid was in different beds all day long depending on where in the house there was the least noise and where there was an available crib.  He also would pee out of every diaper throughout the night.  It was pretty miserable!  Luckily Amy and Kara were there to take over for me while wrangling their own kiddos.  All that being said, it was still so fun to be all together and for Porter to hang out with his cousins!
We went to the Owyhee County rodeo while we were there!

Luke's face!

The rodeo was fun!  We ate lots of good rodeo food and Porter even fell asleep in his car seat for most of it.
Can't wait for these two to be best buds!

I can't get over the cuteness of this picture!  Sophie is so sweet with Porter!

Boy did we treasure every minute that this happened!

Amy and I took all the kids to the park one morning while Ryan and Kara met with their realtor.  It proved to be quite a lengthy park time, and keeping 6 kids entertained and happy at the park for that long was a chore, let me tell you!

First bumbo time with some help from a blanket stuffed all around him!

His hair...haha!  Sticks straight up and can't do anything about it.

These are my very favorite gals! What would I do without them?!
I even tried running for the first time since having Porter while we were there.  It took me nearly 30 minutes to go just over 2 miles and I nearly died!  I was so sore the next day I could barely walk!  I've got a long way to go to get back into running shape!
Porter was great on the way home until we got to around Ogden, and then I had to sit in the back with him.  We were sure excited to get home and see James!!  I am definitely not cut out to be a single parent.  I need him for so many reasons!  Goodbye Boise!
