I had been looking forward to the week of the 4th of July for months. We were going to be camping. The whole fam was going to be here. I was anticipating a lot of things for this week. Let's just say it turned out a little differently than I had envisioned...in many, many ways...but we still had lots of fun anyway!
We set up camp and good ol' Mutual Dell on Monday. I headed up there after work that day. We made s'mores of course! Yummmmm! Dan knows how to do a s'more right!
| Had to include this pic. Look at that face! Dan broke his thumb playing bball earlier that day. :( |
On Tuesday, we relaxed and went up to Tibble Fork for some canoeing.
| You would never know from her face, but Bugs really does like me. She even has started saying my name in recent weeks. Best day of an aunt's life! |
After canoeing, I headed to the tent for a little siesta. I woke up to Amy telling me we needed to evacuate because there was a fire in Alpine. Well, Alpine isn't very close to where we were camping, but ok. We packed up everything in camp and headed out. This is what it looked like on the way down the canyon.
And this is what it looked like once we got out of the canyon. Kinda scary! The canyon was closed the rest of the week and camping was officially cancelled. That destroys my soul! I love camping more than words can say! Stupid wildfires all over Utah ruining my whole life!
So that really threw a wrench into our plans. We had dinner at John and Mary's with everyone that night, and then everyone headed in different directions. Sad day!
Deeds flew in Wednesday morning, and Kara and Ryan came into town that day. So we all convened at the Grossen's household for the 4th of July that night.
| The whole Cosby clan! That is an unacceptable amount of red being worn by us, but it was for a patriotic cause! |
| Workin' it! |
| This is why I cannot be a mother....disgusting! But he was so happy and cute! Cotton candy remnants if you couldn't tell. He had at least 3 huge helpings of the stuff. |
| Soph pounding the "popoo" as she calls it. This is a great shot of my disgusting arm vein...awfully man-ish. |
| These kids ate bag after bag after bag of popcorn! |
On Thursday night, we went to John and Mary's again and everyone met for dinner. Brad grilled up some delicious tri-tip and we had a grand time.
| Jonathan and Sara and bun in the oven! |
| Kim and Eric and Alyssa |
| Deeds and Iz - perfect capturing of Iz's face when you tell him to show his teeth. Love that kid! |
| I was chasing down passes from Deeds and stepped in a pile of dog crap. Awesome! |
| Me and my Daddio! |
| Mary prepping the s'mores! |
| If we can't camp, we'll still do s'more anyway! |
| Parentals and Dedo |
| A bunch of the Wright clan. Love all these people! |
On Friday we went to Cowabunga Bay. I will say that it is not as fun as Seven Peaks (been there recently with the roommates), but it was still pretty dang fun! We wore these little babies out!
On Saturday, we went downtown to Temple Square and the Church History Museum. They have a really fun Book of Mormon exhibit for little kids right now. The big kids had a lot of fun too!
| Not sure what Mexican dancing has to do with the Book of Mormon, but we rocked it anyway! |
| Is there anything better than that face?! I love that kid! |
After Temple Square, we headed over to the new City Creek Mall. It is really quite lovely! The stores are all too expensive and ridiculous, but it sure is fun to people watch there!
Saturday was also Kara's birthday, so we had a little party. We partly celebrated Amy's birthday too, and all the kiddos opened up some of their birthday presents early from Grandma and Grandpa Cosby.
| Nice shirt, pal! Nice! |
The rest of these pics are just random pics taken throughout the week. So it didn't go as planned, but we still had lots of fun during the week. Pretty much any time you get all of us together, its going to be a good time!
| Always have to visit Cafe Rio! |
| All the boys and I went and saw The Amazing Spiderman. Deeds played a little arcade while we waited. |
| Now that's a perfect little Iz face! |
| Everytime I watch Soph play from afar I think I'm watching a little mini Amy. I love this little lady! |
Ryan, Kara, and Iz stayed at my house the whole week. It was so fun to have
people stay here. All three of us slept in my king size bed and Isaac
slept in the pack and play next to the bed. It was a blast!
| Dance party to the Rio soundtrack on my bed. Such grand times! |
Many things about the following video makes me so happy: 1) How happy Rio makes my babies, 2) Isaac's dance moves, 3) When Iz almost bites the dust around sec 12, 4) Soph's hair (she could be a bird in Rio), 5) When Kara says, "This music is so pretty" around sec 22, 6) Sophie's raspy voice, 7) Soph's double finger hair twirl, 8) The fact that Iz is just in the zone, and 9) Soph's bird noise at the very end around second 43.
If things ever get a little dicey with the chillun, Rio solves all things and cures all ills!
