The Big Bonk

I have a super active rambunctious little boy.  I realize that there are going to be bumps, bruises, most likely stitches and maybe even a broken bone or two.  I'm ready for this.  I accept this.  What I do not accept is any of these things happening in the 17 day window where we have no insurance.  From Oct. 14 until Nov. 1 we don't have any insurance.  We are in the midst of this this small little two and half week gap between when my coverage ended and when coverage through James' new job begins.  And my crazy little buddy does this...

 What?!?  This is not allowed!  Thankfully, his spill into the coffee table did not break the skin!  But he sure gave us a scare!  It was a goose egg immediately.  He cried for maybe a minute and half, and then he was totally fine.  We called my sister-in-law who is a nurse to see if we needed to take him to the ER.  She gave a few things to check and watch for and said he should be fine.  We kept him up for a couple of hours to make sure he didn't show any signs of a concussion, and then put him to bed.  I was so nervous!  If he hadn't been acting totally normal and running amuck around our house like a tornado, I probably wouldn't have slept.  The next morning, I expected to see black eyes and a bruised little buddy, but instead I found this...

Little kids are resilient and bodies are amazing!  Now, no more of these shenanigans for the next 6 days.  PLEASE!!

Hogle Zoo

We have been wanting to take Porter to the zoo all summer, and we never made it.  With the crazy warm weather we have been having all October, we decided we had to make it happen.  So on the one Saturday that we didn't have 1000 things going on, we went for it.  He was in heaven!

 

 

 

Around every corner it was, "oh wow!", "roooooooooaarrrr", "fephant (elephant)", etc.  It was a lot of fun!  He fell asleep immediately on the way home.  At one point he sort of woke up and said, "bye, bye mammals (animals)" and waved his hand, and then he was quickly back to sleep.  I sure love seeing the world through this little boy's eyes.  Everything is new, exciting, and so appreciated.  He teaches me a lot!

Homemade Carmel Apples

There are about one hundred million perks to no longer working and being home with the Porter boy full time.  One of the best perks is being able to spend more time with Olivia and watching our kids play and laugh together.  On Tuesday, Porter and I headed over to their house to make carmel apples.  Raegan joined us too, and we had the best time talking and getting caught up on each others lives.  Sadie and Porter chased each other around and laughed and giggled and colored and made a mess with every toy in the whole house.  It was the best of times!

People are pretty lucky to be our friends or visiting teachees to get these little beauties!  They were delicious!
