Take This Job and Shove It!

On June 1, I found out that I was being laid off from my job.  From that point on, I hardly worked at all.  I wrapped up a couple of projects, tied up a bunch of loose ends, passed all my work on to colleagues, packed up all my stuff, and shipped it to Chicago.  Yesterday was officially my last day.  It is still very surreal.  I feel like I'm just on vacation and will be going back any day now.  I knew lay offs were coming.  Part of me really wanted to be laid off so that I could get a severance package and James and I could move on to the next chapter of our lives.  Another part of me was terrified to get laid off.  It presents a lot of challenges, worries, trials, and panic (on my part).  It is also hard not to take it personally.  I know it's all business, but it's all I have done for the nearly 12 years.  I've been a reliable, steady, hard-working, and dedicated employee, and this is what I get?  Oh well!  What can you do?!

I definitely won't miss cleaning this up every day!

 I had to take all of our equipment out of the car and get rid of it all.  It took forever and I would have never been able to do it without James' help.

It seemed like more people were being laid off than staying, so that made it a little easier to leave.  I won't miss working at all.  It has become pretty stressful with Porter at home.  I will miss all the great people I worked with.  You become pretty close with people after working together for 12 year.  This job was perfect for me in so many way.  I couldn't have asked for better job right out of college.  I loved my job for probably the first 8 years for working.  The last few have become less and less fun, but it paid the bill and wasn't miserable.

Now we will figure out something new, and hopefully we can make it work for me to stay at home with Porter boy full time!

Hiking to Waterfalls

One afternoon, Amy and I took the kids and attempted to hike to Ghost Falls.  I'm pretty sure we didn't make it anywhere close to falls, but we still had a great time being up in the mountains!

 Then yesterday, we met up with our trek group to hike to Battle Creek Falls in Pleasant Grove.  It was a fun hike, and we were mostly excited that so many of our trek kids were able to join us!  After the hike, we stopped a Macey's for kong cones!

 

 

May Randoms

I have a bunch of random pictures from the month of May.  So here goes...

It is starting to get warm here, which means we have to bust out the fans.  Porter loves to feel the wind in his hair!

James and I got a date night one night and had dinner at Black Sheep Cafe in Provo.  This buffalo burger was TO DIE FOR!!

We are still prepping for trek, and Porter is a good sport to join us, even on cool spring mornings!

Porter's last day with his binkie was May 15.  Poor little buddy didn't know what was coming in this picture.  It has been an easier transition than I thought it would be, but he sure misses his "nigh, nigh".

We went to pick something up from Aunt Mary, and they were dog sitting this little puppy.  Porter was in heaven and couldn't stop hugging/smothering it.

This scene is becoming more and more typical.  He sure lets us know when he's not getting what he wants.

To finish May out, we join Amy and the kids for an afternoon at the Thanksgiving Point farm.  Porter loved riding the horsey and kept saying "neigh" the whole time and waving to all the people watching.

That about wraps up our May.  Porter is super social.  He says "hi" to everyone we pass by.  He loves to play with other kids and get into everything he isn't supposed to.  We love that summer is here so we can play, play, play!
