Porter is 1!

We did it!  We survived the first year!  Porter is more fun than ever!  He learns new words almost every day.  We are his favorite people in world.  He is a full blown walker now, and he's so proud of himself.  He is finding his way into all sorts of new mischief.  He busy, bright, and the friendliest little guy.  He loves to play with other kids and loves to be outside.  He makes us laugh every day, and he's starting to get quite the opinion about things.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  What would we do without him?  I can't imagine life without my little Porter boy!
We started off his birthday with purple cows and waffles.

I'd say he was a fan!

I took a half day at work so Porter and I could do some fun things in the afternoon.  Amy, Sophie, and Luke came over to wish Porter a happy birthday and brought him a new book.  We spent a few minutes at the park.
After Porter's nap that afternoon, we headed out to Nana and Papa's house.  Nana had saved Porter a piece of chocolate cake.  He was in heaven!  He kept saying, "Mmmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm!"  And he was covered in chocolate afterward!
I love that Porter gets to know all of his grandparents!
James finished work a little early and we headed over to the farm at Thanksgiving Point.  Porter was in heaven looking at all the animals. He especially loved the baby chicks.  He wanted to climb in and grab them.

Nearly lost his finger to the sheep!

Then we grabbed some dinner, Skyped with my parents, had a birthday cupcake, and opened a present.  It was a great day! He even blew out the candle on his cupcake.

We went to the doctor this morning and here are Porter's stats:
Weight: 19lbs 13oz (30%)
Height: 29.3in (30%)
Head: 47.5cm (85%)
The doctor says he is looking great and that the way he acts socially and with his motor skills, he is more like a 15-18 month-old.

Here are few other things going on with Porter in the last month:
  • Porter started walking practically overnight.  One day he was taking a few steps in between James and I and the next morning he just walked everywhere.
  • He folds his hands and tilts his head down when its time for prayer.
  • Everytime he eats he says, "mmmmmm".
  • He waves and smiles at everyone everywhere we go.
  • He loves his binkie during his naps and at night.  He sucks on it a few times, rotates it, then sucks on it a few times, and rotates it again.
  • He loves cuties and turkey lunch meat.
  • He is scared of the vacuum cleaner.  He bolts to a different room whenever I turn it on.
  • Locks were put on all cabinets that have cleaners or other harmful substances in them.
  • He has at least two new teeth coming in.
  • He says, "night, night", "ball", "bath", "shoes", "uh-oh", and "amen".
  • He's starting to be a little attached to James and I and especially me.
  • Since he can walk now, he thinks he can walk down stairs.

Some friends in our ward gave us this toy.
Some days are hard!

One day we hiked up to Amy's house.  Porter was great!
We bought a keyboard at DI for him to play with..

Boxed up all the bottles and finished formula!  Can I get a hallelujah?!

I can't even begin to comprehend how it has already been a year since he was born!  What a wild, fun-filled, challenging, exciting, full of learning, and blessed year it has been!  We thank Heavenly Father every day for sending this little guy to be part of our family!  We are humbled by the chance to raise him, teach him, and hopefully prepare him to be the boy and man He needs him to be!  We love you, Porter!
Here's a picture of me right around my first birthday.  Are we twinners or what?!

Cruisin' Through April

April 13 marked the end of an era.  Kobe Bryant's last game was that night.  It has been rough being a Lakers fan for the last few years, and I would be the first to admit that I haven't been the most loyal.  It's tough to be loyal when your team sucks and no games are on TV!  I feel bad the way that Kobe's last few seasons have gone.  I wish he could go out on top!  But his last game was epic and it was against the Jazz, so it was even better!  I'll always bleed purple and gold when it comes to the NBA!

We have been trying to figure out what to do with our backyard for a while now.  We had a landscaping company give us a bid on putting irrigation, grass, and garden boxes in.  It was so outrageous!  So we decided to make garden boxes ourselves and save the irrigation and grass for another time.  James built these awesome boxes and we bought soil to fill them.  Now we just have to wait until it is warm enough to plant!
Porter was a good little helper as long as he was contained!

Look how awesome our raspberry bush is doing already!
We celebrated Wyatt's birthday with a little party.  Kara and Ryan got a trampoline, so Porter had to try it out!

I can't believe that April is almost over and that Porter turns 1 in just a few days!

Family Time

With Hudson joining the family, that brought my mom and Deeds and Kimmy to town for a few days.  It was fun to spend time with everyone!
Porter has a lot to learn when it come to interacting with little babies!

We took the kids to the park one afternoon.  Porter just wanted to eat the bark.

We watched the last session of conference all together.  Porter liked to watch the Mo Tab!

All the sibs with my mom.  Love these people beyond words!

And I had to include these hilarious face swap pictures.  They make me pee!
Jack and my mom

James and Porter...absolutely horrifying!

Can't wait for the next time we all are together again in a few weeks!
