Rolling right into March...the first weekend, James, Amy, and I headed up to Boise for Kim to receive her endowment and for her bridal shower. It was a quick trip, but so worth it! We are so excited for Kimmy to join the family in a few weeks! My parents flew in for the weekend too, so it was a fun family weekend!

Then I came down with a cold which is never awesome, but its especially not awesome while pregnant. All the good meds are off limits...booo!
On March 14th, my Taylor sisters through me a baby shower! They are so wonderful, and it was such a great time! I'm so blessed to be surrounded, loved, and supported by so many incredible women!

Melanie and all the girls did such an amazing job. I know it takes so much work and planning and coordinating to do these sorts of things, so I appreciate it so, so, so much! And I was given so many adorable things for the little man! We are getting close!
That night, we had Sophie and Jack spend the night one more time while we are still kid-free. We figure it will be a while before we do one again, so we had to live it up!

We ate and watched Big Hero 6 with the air mattress blown up downstairs. Everything was going great until I woke up around 12:30am to both of the kids hysterically crying downstairs. They are both normally such good sleepers! I wasn't sure what was happening, so I got them both calmed down and back to sleep, then headed back up to bed. Fifteen minutes later, both hysterical again. I figured out it was Jack who was having the problem, so I got Sophie all settled in a bedroom upstairs. Then I went down to try to help Jack (James was sleeping through this all...this does not bode well for middle of night episodes that are coming our way!). He just kept saying his cheek hurt. Of all things...his cheek? It looked just fine to me both inside and out. No canker sores or other ailments visible. I had no clue what to do. I got him a drink, got him an ice pack to put on it, tried to calm him down. Nothing was working. He was beyond consolable. Finally, I woke up James. He came down and was so good with Jack. We said a prayer, and James distracted Jack by talking about his favorite video games. It seemed to be working! And then everything went south again and he was hysterical. We tried turning on a movie, and eventually I called Amy and she tried to calm him down over the phone. He was still in a lot of pain. The thought occurred to me that maybe he was cutting a molar, but who has any idea when kids get more teeth? Not me! Around this time, James started feeling sick and was upstairs in the bathroom. I just kept thinking that I can't be parent...what were we thinking?! Haha! I looked at every pain reliever medicine we had in the house and none of them were safe for kids under 12-years-old. Jack would not even consider going home because he didn't want to leave the sleepover. Amy wasn't answering her phone anymore. James finally came downstairs and gave Jack a blessing. That calmed him for a few minutes but then he broke down again because the blessing wasn't working. James went back upstairs, and I hopped in the car to run over to the gas station to see if they had children's Tylenol. Jack had finally agreed that it might be better for him to be home in his own bed, but I couldn't get a hold of Amy. So I left Jack there hysterical. I felt so bad. James could hear him just in tears saying, "My cheek is attacking me! Where is my mom? Why isn't she here? Why is this happening to me? It hurts so bad!" Broke my heart! The children's Tylenol was a no go at the gas station. On my way back home, Amy called me and said she was on her way to pick him up. After she left I told James we have to give this kid to parents looking to adopt because I can't be a parent. It was all jokes of course, but good grief! I can't handle these sorts of things! How do you help your child when they are in pain and there is nothing you can do? Turns out Jack is cutting his 6-year-old molars. Poor boy! He just didn't know quite how to handle it. We have since purchased children's meds!
On Tuesday, one of my dearest old friends flew in from Portland to come to my bridal shower. How amazing is she?! And how amazing is her husband for sending her off on a quick vacation and staying home with their three oldest kiddos?! It was a real treat to have Joo Lin here!
Wednesday was even her birthday, so we celebrated with a big birthday breakfast. If you're in the Taylor house for your birthday, purple cows are on the menu!
Wednesday night was my Cosby family shower. Kara and Amy did such a great job of organizing everything, and it was amazing to have so many friends and family all in one place! There were people from so many parts of my life...family, work friends, old ward friends, new ward friends, BYU friends, and even friends from Bakersfield. Amazing! Again, the support and love from so many outstanding women is overwhelming!

It was a great baby shower! We received so many amazing and generous gifts! I feel like we might be really ready now for the little one to arrive! I can't wait to introduce and tell him all about these great women who already love him! Thank you Amy and Kara for an amazing shower!
